Suffolk Police Special Constabulary are holding an information evening
in Lowestoft next Tuesday, 13 May.
The Special Constabulary work alongside regular police officers in
Suffolk, with these part-time volunteers carrying out a wide range of
duties in support of their full-time colleagues.
This includes everything from uniformed patrols and assisting with
events, through to catching criminals and helping on drugs warrants.
The information evening, being held at the Victoria Hotel from 7.30pm,
will give anyone interested the chance to find out more about the
Special Constabulary, what volunteering entails and the benefits it can
have.
If you want to get a taste of police work before committing yourself to
a full-time career or if you’re looking for something interesting,
rewarding and constructive to do with your time then becoming a Special
Constable may be for you.
As a Special Constable you’ll be part of a local Safer Neighbourhood
Team and be able to give something back to the community you live in -
helping to link police and local people and address local concerns such
as anti-social behaviour.
Specials come from all walks of life and backgrounds and being
‘special’ has many benefits - including making new friends and
enhancing your skills. Special Constables are aged eighteen or over, and
need to be in good health and of good character, but beyond this your
life experience is as valuable as any paper qualification.
If you’re interested in finding out more you're invited to attend the
information evening where you’ll have the opportunity to talk to some
of those who already volunteer and be able to learn more about what the
job entails. There is no obligation.
If you can’t attend but would like more information go to our website
www.suffolk.police.uk or contact the Special Constabulary Recruitment
Officer Mick Mann on 01473 613638 or email
