Suffolk County Council AGM elects new chairman

Councillor Ann Rodwell was elected as chairman of Suffolk County Council at the council's AGM today.
Councillor Rodwell was educated in Suffolk and lives in Felixstowe.
She was elected to Suffolk County Council for the Deben No. 1 (later known as Colneis) Division in 1977. She was elected to Felixstowe Town Council in 2003 and was Mayor of Felixstowe in 2006/07, she also served on Suffolk Coastal District Council from 2003 to 2007.
Councillor Rodwell was re-elected to the county council for the Felixstowe Ferry Division in a by-election in February 2004 and was Chairman of the Development Control Sub-Committee in 2006/07.
Ann was Chairman of Governors of Trimley St. Mary Primary School for 30 years, and of Orwell High School in Felixstowe for 11 years.
Ann is married and has two children and four grandchildren. Her hobbies include public speaking to voluntary organisations, swimming, bowls, golf, playing music and her family.
