Car Robbery

Ipswich Police are appealing for information following a robbery, which occurred in Ipswich yesterday, Thursday 12th February 2009.

The robbery happened at about 8.15pm in Allenby Road, Ipswich. A 28-year-old male who had advertised his car in Auto Trader had taken it on a test drive with two male prospective buyers when the incident happened. He drove around the block a couple of times and on returning to Allenby Road one of the males suggested one of the wheels was making a noise. He got out to investigate and was dragged away from the car by this male. The other male left in the car then sped off in it dragging the victim a short distance. Moments later three males in a small dark coloured car picked up the male left behind.

The stolen car is described as a dark silver/grey Audi RS6 Quattro index YE52SXY and is valued at about £15,000. It is possible that this vehicle is now being used on false plates.

The car the two males arrived in was left at the scene and was found to be stolen and on false plates. Plates of other stolen vehicles were also found in the boot. This vehicle has been seized for examination.

The male who distracted the victim is described as white, aged 35 to 40 years old, about 5’7” tall, average build, unshaven with patches of grey in his stubble, with short dark hair and a Welsh accent. He was wearing dark clothing.

The male who drove off in the Audi is described as white, aged in his 30s, about 5’2” tall, slim build, with a pale complexion, prominent cheek bones, dark eyes and dark hair in a curtain style and a Welsh accent. He too wore dark clothing and was unshaven. He was possibly trying to grow a moustache.

Both males indicated that they had travelled from Wales to view the car.

Anyone with any information in relation to this incident is asked to contact DC Sophie Leone at Ipswich CID on 01473 613500 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
